WELL DONE - and breathe a sigh of relief!

Year 12,

Well done on completing your evaluations - I've seen how hard some of you have been working on them and I have beaming with pride all week! (As has Mr Bunce)

I am not embarking on the marking of them all... Anything submitted now will not be included in my marking and you will be instructed to remove it.

Hope you have a great - yet productive - Bank Holiday weekend! I will see you on Thursday next week for our double lesson.

Further explanation of evaluation activities

Year 12,

Here are the answers to some FAQs I've received re: the evaluation activities:

I'm not sure what to include for Activity 3...

For this question, you can bring in some of the work you've been doing with Mr Bunce towards your summer exam. Consider the following:
  • Research what a production company does.
  • What is the idea of a distributor and why?
  • Talk about your production company name/logo.
  • Which existing institution would distribute it? e.g. Working Title, Film 4.
  • Which films have they previously produced that are similar to yours?
  • What genre is your film - how does this link to your chosen institution?
  • How have you clearly established the genre through your film?
  • Where might the money come from for your film? (May require research)
  • Discuss the inclusion of the names in your titles (if any) - if there are none, explain why.
  • Compare the titles to similar existing films.
You don't need to answer all of these questions in lots of detail, but you should address some of the ideas in your commentary/script.

Do I need to include pictures of myself holding the equipment for Activity 6?

Including yourself in the images shows evidence of your involvement in the production and your understanding of the technology. I would suggest including yourself in the images, but it's not essential.

Hope this helps! Remember to refer to the hand-out I created and also the example blog I provided for you.

My Apologies

Year 12,

I'm very sorry that I'm not in today for our double, but I have to go to the hospital this morning for an emergency appointment - I will be around until about 10 am and logged onto my email to answer any questions.

Here are the instructions for today:

1) Everyone will stay in S302 and start working on their evaluation questions for the entire double.

2) As soon as you're logged on, you all need to create a post on your blogs with the YouTube link to your finished film opening - this must be done by 9.15 am at the latest.

3) You can then start working through your evaluation questions - to screencap images you can press 'print screen' and then crop.

If you have questions about the evaluation then do email me. Use the handout I created to help you and refer to the example blog as help.

Note: For the audience question, you will each need to film this individually - you cannot share the same video; it needs to be your own work.

Sorry again and hope you get on with this okay! Remember, the deadline for the evaluation is 30th April, so make sure you work productively during this double!!

Film Opening Deadline: Thursday 24th April @ 8.45am

Year 12,

Hope you enjoyed your Easter break!

This is just a gentle reminder that all films must be finished and uploaded to YouTube before the start of our lesson on Thursday (24th April).

I will be available to stay in S302 tomorrow (Wednesday 23rd April) after school until approx. 4.15pm, as I have an appointment at 5pm. If you think you will need to stay later then you must tell Mr Bunce tomorrow morning so that he can arrange to stay in school a bit later for you.

No one will be editing during Thursday's lesson - you will spend the two hours working on your evaluation, for which you will need your finished film (and uploaded on YouTube in order to take screen grabs from it).

I expect you to have made some attempt to start some of the evaluation work at home over Easter, particularly as I produced a breakdown before Easter of what you can work on before the final editing is completed.

See you Thursday.
